What I'm briefly going to talk about here is that the choices you make in life will effect your future. Splurging a bit on your favorite ice cream will most likely lead to a result you did not want so being conscious of these decisions is what you need to do.
As mentioned in the book, "The Compound Effect", it these little actions that build up over time that lead to success. While I'm personally not saying to avoid eating or enjoying things, I do want you to plan so you can follow your path to achieving your goals, instead of floundering around and wondering why you are not where you want to be today.
How do you do this? Have clear things you want to achieve and perform actions every day that, even very small ones, that push you further along in your goals. Watching that episode of Mad Men (while entertaining and useful for marketing ideas), that is not the best use of your time. Do things that make sense in the grand scheme of things and you'll get the best results.
